AS a former local steelworker it was a very interesting read the article headlined “New York spotlight for Teesside steel” (Echo, Jan 21).
The Manchester Metropolitan University Historian, Dr Tosh Warwick, highlighted that this type of industrial heritage should be part of future regeneration schemes.
Hence one hopes the many acres of redundant steel sites closed by Thai SSI company in and around Redcar can be regenerated to provide well paid jobs for the local community.
