AS a very proud Durham City Alderman, I was absolutely delighted when I saw the proposed for the much needed new bus station.
I am sure this will kick start the North Road regeneration our historic city needs.
The transport infrastructure improvement is needed for a prosperous economy and a key factor for businesses considering investing in our ever improving city.
The current bus station as you all know is an absolute disgrace. It rains in, has dirty boarded up shops, has dirty shop fronts and there are awful toilets which most people will not use.
There are also real safety concerns outside of the bus station.
More buses are using it, buses are unable to pull into the correct stands and old people are left every day.
I would like to assure the people in our surrounding villages I will be continuing my ten-year campaign for the fabulous, much needed bus station, they surely deserve.
Alderman Phil Stoddart, Ushaw Moor.
