WE all want to see a town centre revival.
The national retailers with stores in many town centres are in trouble.
Independent retailers are not in so much trouble . But they would all benefit from a decrease in commercial rates.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea for Darlington Borough Council to approach independent retailers in York, Durham, Leyburn, Northallerton, Yarm and other places to ask them what would it take for them to open or re-open a branch in Darlington town centre?
Would it be a good idea to do the same for the Market and Covered Market, by approaching market traders in Northallerton Durham Richmond Barnard Castle and elsewhere, in the same manner?
