I WAS delighted to read that Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the excellent and unbiased Speaker of the House of Commons agrees that Big Ben should chime on the first of February in celebration at our departure from the EU.
It would be symbolic and entirely appropriate if our local authorities also rejoice and follow suit by removing any EU flags flying from public buildings and replace them with either the flag of St George or the Union Flag.
And a quick dab of paint to cover up any EU insignia on signs would be as welcome as obliterating those unnecessary little symbols on their vehicle number plates.
