DARLINGTON motorists have been delayed and frustrated for 12 weeks by misguided roadworks in Victoria Road, which are still unfinished.
And it is now revealed we shall have a new, third set of double traffic lights in a stretch of less than 200 metres where 16 years ago none were necessary.
What is the cost of this over-engineering which serves to inconvenience the traffic?
It must be in the region of £150,000, which would be enough to fill in the potholes across much of Darlington and level the manhole covers and other street ironworks that hinder our drivers. It would also cover the cost of re-surfacing Victoria Embankment, which hasn’t been done for over 20 years and keeps being knocked back.
Malcolm Dunstone, Darlington.
