THE Labour Party has for some time advocated 16 year olds having the vote.

These youngsters would no doubt have strong opinions but based on what?

Still at home with mam and dad, not working for a living, no mortgage, no overdraft, no problem when the car will not start. Virtually nothing to compile an opinion from, just youthful exuberance which is simply not enough.

The idea of 50/60 year old worldly wise politicians courting the support of 16 year olds I find disturbing; it smacks of the Pied Piper. Or is Jeremy Corbyn the Pied Piper of Westminster?

Harold MacKenley, Cockfield.
