A NUMBER of your readers watch local soccer and some are groundhoppers who go to games at many different grounds during the course of a season.

Also your columnist Mike Amos delights in reporting on soccer and cricket matches in the remote areas of the region.

Whilst many people will have seen many more games than me this year, I wonder if any can claim to have watched a game of soccer in a more remote location than me – Easter Island on November 10.

Of course, not everyone can travel long distances but I suggest to your readers who only watch soccer on TV, to go out and watch a game in the Northern League, Wearside League – you might be surprised how enjoyable you will find it.
