PEOPLE keep going on about the referendum being democratic, but referendums aren’t as democratic as general elections which aren’t as democratic as local elections.
But voting for Euro MPs is more democratic than any of them because every vote counts.
This is because the Euro elections are fought on a proportional representation basis, which major parties in most countries are reluctant to accept.
But at a time when fewer people are voting and populism and nationalism are on the rise, maybe we should change.
Also, a PR system produces parties with more varied views and that could produce the policies needed to tackle our worst enemy, ourselves, because of the relentless, alien-like, attack on the Earth’s natural resources.
