THE Prime Minister has just announced plans to build 40 new hospitals.
We have to pause and ask ourselves: “Will they have the same services on offer as the hospitals they replace?
Is this a way of closing accident and emergency departments by simply not including an A&E in the plans for these new hospitals?”
When there was a plan for a new hospital on Teesside at Wynyard to replace North Tees, was there an A&E department included in the plans? We also have to ask: “Will these new hospitals be leased back to the NHS, at enormous public expense, in the longer term?”
