DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL’S Oliver Sherratt explains about garden waste collection cost (Echo, Sept 25) but he never mentioned once about the purpose built compost pad at Joint Stocks Coxhoe.
The facility was granted a licence by the Environment Agency last year.
It is stood idle, but opening up this facility could waylay the cost to county council residents, as the council would not have to pay £25 a ton to private garden waste companies.
The overall cost per year savings would be £250,000, and this cost reduction could mean a cheaper green bin service.
