WITH reference to the article on Darlington Indoor Market (Echo, Sept 14) – it is all very well that the new owners intend to provide a “more extensive food and beverage offer” but what will they do about replacing the card stall, the pet stall, the hardware stall etc?
I can only eat in one cafe when I come to Darlington, but I do like to visit a variety of retail premises and stalls.
Remember Milburngate in Durham?
All the new premises round there now seem to be cafes around the cinema.
There have not been any new stores to replace Bon Marche, Yorkshire Trading Company, the two clothes shops and Yorkshire Linen Co that were there previously.
As far as I am concerned that is a disaster area – I am hoping that Darlington market will not end up the same.
