I RECENTLY parked in Walkergate car park, opposite the Passport Office in Durham and have concerns over the serious health and safety issues for drivers and any pedestrians when leaving this car park.
Buses approaching from Claypath traffic lights have no other option but to reverse into the entrance of this car park as there is nowhere to turn around, this is because the council has closed the bus parking area.
It’s an accident waiting to happen, and this is before all the lorries arrive to start work on the site.
Luckily the bus saw us leaving the car park and stopped but pedestrians may not be so lucky. Shame on the council.
The other entrance behind the market is also going to be hazardous for disabled parking and pedestrians alighting from the bus stop as traffic will greatly increase and is coming at speed approaching the bridge.
