IT saddens me

to read of the loss of one of Durham’s – if not the country’s – greatest photographers

(Echo, Aug 7).

I knew Frank, Heather, Tom and Stuey and others from serving them in the Buffalo Head when on their lunch they would call in for a well-earned drink of Stella Artois.

I was 18 at the time and their office was doors away in Saddler Street.

His office was no stranger to talent.

Pop Robson from Gilesgate was another excellent photographer.

I would have liked to attend the service at St. Giles Church but unfortunately cannot due to a smoke damaged house which is in need of painting.

I send my condolences to Heather, Frank’s wife (a lovely person) and the family. I do hope that you read this letter, as we had a laugh.
