I HAVE to agree with Vivien Dickenson (HAS, Aug 14) regarding cyclists riding without lights and a bell.
As a dog walker often out and around in areas on footpaths used by cyclists, I am appalled how many are cyclists believe they are on the correct side of the road, cycling towards oncoming traffic, expecting the motorists to move for them or indeed cycling in front of traffic and expecting the oncoming motorist to give way for them.
As the darker days are coming all to quickly would not it be prudent if the road safety section of Darlington Borough Council had a series of visits to the schools on their return in early September to issue luminous strips for cyclists to wear if they insist on wearing dark clothing.
