JUST a thought. Shouldn’t the awarding of honours to local politicians be a matter for the local population, and not just the local councillors?

Some of the potential recipients (Echo, July 16) may no doubt have given good service, but that is what they were elected to do, was it not? We are all agreed that Darlington is not what it was, for good or ill. This is not the time to be dishing out honours. Let the dust settle.
