IT really annoys me when the Local Government Association and councils start crying about the growing problem of fly-tipping.

Councils create their own problems and then they say they need more money to clean up the mess.

I lived in Sunderland and if you had any rubbish it could take up to an hour to get into the tip, then you would get the staff crying because of abuse from the public.

It appears that councils design their tips to cause these problems – just drive around the back streets in Sunderland and you will see the mess.

I moved to Durham and it is just the same but Durham actually close tips because they can’t afford the staff, you then get signs at the tip saying you can’t abuse the staff.

I have to take a box of Kalms before I think about going to the tip.

On the subject of permits, Durham say do it online – what a joke, trying to log on this can take an hour due to software issues. I tried four times and ended up with four different addresses. Two being on the Place Green in Durham City.

If the councils spent the money on designing collection centres and allow more people to recycle their rubbish, fly-tipping can only go down.

Rubbish does not reduce just because of regulations – rubbish is a constant from consumerism
