THE Brexit referendum was a vote by the people for the people not by businesses.

One of the main reasons for the decision was that the free movement of labour has had the effect of creating a large low wage employment base.

Many businesses opposed Brexit because this was exactly what they wanted. It was accepted that there would be a short-term problem for them, but the ultimate long-term challenge would be to increase productivity and investment.

It is surprising, therefore, that the Labour Party continues to vehemently oppose Brexit on the basis of protecting jobs and avoiding a disaster.

It seems to be the voice of businesses.
