A REDUCTION in plastic pollution should be easy to implement.
Firstly, let’s go back to reusable milk bottles, instead of plastic containers, which could be delivered on an electric milk float – surely a case of original and best.
Secondly, plastic bags should be banned. There should be reusable good quality carriers supplied free by supermarkets at their cost – we are currently paying for something to carry goods purchased in their store emblazoned with their logo; they should refund us for advertising their store.
Supermarkets are just that – super-sized markets. They have put the little guys out of business with their massive buying power, and have forced our farmers to accept less for their products than they cost to produce.
Perhaps once we are eventually out of the EU our farmers may just get a better deal instead of being blackmailed with the threat of cheaper EU-sourced produce by the multi-billion pound supermarkets.
