RALPH MUSGRAVE cannot have done much research before claiming that Echo columnist Julia Breen has no evidence to back up her accusation that the For Britain movement is stirring up hate (HAS, Apr 23).
A quick scan of the movement's Facebook page reveals literally thousands of anti-Muslim comments which are so extreme they cannot be repeated here.
Just one of the depressing side effects of Brexit has been Britain's descent into tribal factions where a rival point of view meets with a hostile reaction rather than an attempt to reach a peaceful compromise.
Anti-Muslim, anti-German and anti-immigrant comments abound on social media which in turn are spawning anti-Christian and anti-British comments among those who perceive themselves as being under attack.
The EU project was conceived to encourage European countries to work together as one in order to avoid future wars and achieve economic success with the richest members supporting the poorest, but it seems that message has sadly been lost.
The rise of the new IRA is an example of how fragile peaceful co-existence actually is.
