IN reference to the report headlined "Councillor's Labour party suspension" (Echo, Apr 19) about events in Hartlepool where Cllr Stephen Akers-Belcher has been suspended, many former Redcar & Cleveland council Labour cabinet members and former party members will understand what Cllr Stephen Akers-Belcher and his partner, Cllr Christopher Akers-Belcher, are going through.
Although the 12 resignations from the Labour Party in Redcar & Cleveland took place back in February 2015, there are several similarities with what is now happening in Hartlepool.
One wishes Stephen and Chris well with their efforts to get fairness from the Labour Party.
However recent events would suggest that will be difficult.
George Dunning, (former Labour leader of Redcar & Cleveland council), Ormesby
