I WOULD like to start by saying I am not anti-royal although I do think there are too many hangers-on who are increasing yearly.

I have just read a story (I assume it is true – well, it was in a newspaper) that Prince Harry and Meghan are spending £33,000 on a three night “babymoon” stay at a hotel in Hampshire.

This is on top of £3m having been spent on improvements to their home in Windsor.

I have never heard the expression “babymoon” before.

In times when so many people are struggling how can the couple justify this even allowing for the income that the royal family brings to the country?

My wife and I took refuge unexpectedly in a Sofitel hotel last September which cost £329 for one night but at least we got our money back plus from British Airways.

As you would expect, the hotel room was brilliant although we only spent seven hours in it. Free tea and coffee too but there is only so much you can drink.

I don't think Harry and Meghan will have done themselves any favours with the public except to the die-hard royalists.
