THIS week sees the start of the 11th year of the Durham County Council as a unitary authority.
We remember at its imposition being told “things cannot be worse than the present eight councils”.
It is ironic that last month has demonstrated how wrong that was.
The Sands County Hall planning decision and the final consultation on the unashamed repetition of the previous discredited County Durham Plan are the worst examples of the many disgraceful decisions made over the last ten years.
