PETER GREENWELL of Spennymoor (HAS, Mar 26) is upset because he pays £300 more council tax than someone in Darlington but has fewer amenities.
Well, Band A tax in Spennymoor is £1412.73, but in Shildon it is £1446.55.
We have no Aldi, no Lidl, no Asda, no Iceland, no Home Bargains, no M & Co (Mackays), no bank, no bus to Durham, no bus to Newcastle.
If Mr Greenwell feels he has only third world amenities, I must be living on another planet.
C Hind, Shildon.
