I ENTIRELY agree with yesterday’s excellent article (Echo, Mar 21) about Brexit, particularly your point that any post-withdrawal trade negotiations could well lead to an even bigger crisis than we have at the moment.

However, I would point out that the EU has yet to agree to any extension, let alone settle the date. Moreover, there is absolutely no guarantee that the Speaker will allow another debate on the Government's proposed deal, although I agree with you that some “fudge” will probably be found.

Finally, there is as yet no reason to believe the Government would be able to win any such vote.

Thus, I have a horrible feeling we will be no further forward in whatever extra time we are given.

I still think we will either have to ask for another extension in order to hold a meaningful Referendum or abandon Brexit for now.
