THE council has finally got around to replacing the play area in Cockton Hill recreation ground.

The old one was dilapidated and had glass and even needles strewn around.

Now considering how many children live in the area you would have thought the council might have consulted locals. But no, they have replaced the old climbing frame, which was a large square structure, with the tiniest play equipment for public use that I have ever seen.

They could have bought a larger play frame from Argos.

Considering the size of the play area at Tindale and the station rec, it’s an insult.
