READING the report of the Durham County Council meeting regarding the closure of yet another department at Bishop Auckland Hospital (Echo, Nov 1) – if you read between the lines you will see that it is all cut and dried.

No matter what anyone does that department will be closed. You just have to think back to when they closed the A&E department, no notice was taken of the feelings of the people of the area they just went ahead and closed it.

The same will happen here.

When the hospital was a collection of wooden huts all departments were running but as soon as the new hospital was built they began to close departments.

Okay they may need the money to upgrade Darlington Hospital but not at the expense of closing departments at Bishop Auckland.

I have had major operations in all of the three hospitals and by far the best treatment was at Bishop Auckland.
