I REFER to the article (Echo, Oct 2) entitled “Thousands come together to celebrate at town event” and in particular the statement “more than a 1,000 people took the opportunity to take a sneak peak inside the new Auckland Tower”.
I was one of the visitors to view the interior of what has become known by some locals as the “Marmite Tower”.
Well, it is said, “never judge a book by the cover”, as for Marmite, it can only be appreciated on well buttered toast.
After appreciating the novel constructed interior of the tower I could only propose a toast.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please raise your glasses to The Auckland Project for creating a true bestseller for Bishop Auckland.
If the “Marmite Tower” were a novel it would be guaranteed the Booker Prize.
Billy Neilson, Bishop Auckland
