THERE is currently a plethora of calls for a “people’s” referendum on Brexit driven by people who didn’t like the result of the referendum held by the UK over two years ago.

Can anyone imagine that, had the country voted to remain in the EU, the clamour would be as it now is?

The result of the referendum must be respected and as for people saying they need to be able to say yes or no to any deal, how could all the points involved be put on a ballot paper?

Let the Prime Minister and her team do what they are tasked to do.

Whether the country gets a deal or not is important but not as important as respecting the result of the country’s democratic vote.
