I TOTALLY agree with Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg about the introduction of injectable Opioid treatment to tackle the scourge of drugs which is taking over our towns and villages in the North-East (HAS, Sept 10), but we also need to educate our youth who seem hell bent on causing damage.

If it is not bus stop windows kicked out it is equipment in our play areas set on fire.

We have closed the youth clubs and now large groups of youths are roaming about. We need some kind of police presence on the street. If we can afford to pay traffic wardens to patrol the streets in pairs, we should be able do the same with the police.

They do not have to be there seven days a week, but it would be nice to see them now and again. This is going to cost money but we need to stop paying ridiculous amounts of money to executives in local government to pay for it.
