EARLIER this year I drew to the attention of Darlington Council Street Scene to flytipping in Polam Lane involving bricks, stones and general builders’ rubbish.
I asked for it to be removed and I added that it would be desirable to have a CCTV camera installed to catch the villains in future, as it had happened many times before.
I could scarcely believe the response as I was told that “for legal reasons, we are not permitted to place covert cameras where it would be construed as ‘ intrusion’.” No wonder fly-tipping continues to plague our communities.
