IF YOU haven’t been to Saltburn for a while I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

My opinion of Saltburn one time was that it was getting a bit run down and tired but that is no longer the case. It has improved tremendously recently and I don’t know who is responsible for the current initiatives, whether it is the District or Local Council or a Saltburn Action Group or a combination of all three.

The promenade has been improved greatly in the last year or two, with new clean toilets, crazy golf, surf shack, cafes and my favourites, new different coloured attractive beach huts which greatly add to the seaside feel.

Next to the sea front car park is an excellent fish and chip takeaway and cafe and there are also 2 other fish and chip shops nearby.

There appears to be a determination to continue improvements by the expensive renovation of the cliff tramway.

What would really add icing to the cake would be the addition of pristine sand to the popular areas of the beach, similar to Lyme Regis but I suppose that would depend on expense, Oceanic conditions and physical factors.
