THE letter from R Tomlinson (HAS, Feb 5) helps to illustrate the confusion of the Brexit vote.
He refers to the “12-hour nextdoor-to-slavery continental shifts” which he or she thinks is the situation in Europe, but that is the exact opposite of the true situation.
The British are always recorded as working more hours per week than the rest of Europe.
The Brexiteers all want to get rid of the EU-imposed restrictions on working hours, but this will allow more zero hours contracts and even longer working hours for the average worker.
R Tomlinson will be most disappointed if they believe they will have shorter working hours after we leave.
