IT was heartening to read of the gift of 1,000 Christmas presents to refugees in Middlesbrough, which showed the generous and sympathetic spirit of the people of the Yorkshire Dales towards men, women and children who have fled from war and terror in other countries (Echo, Dec 14).
This contrasts sharply with Ralph Musgrave’s mean-spirited, cynical and sarcastic remarks about Muslim refugees and migrants (HAS, Dec 11). His dire predictions of “Islamisation” rely on so many false assumptions that it would be impossible to reply adequately in a short letter.
Mr Musgrave describes me as “a fully paid up member of the loony left”. From a member of the BNP, I will take that as a compliment!
