ALTHOUGH I have a lot of time for cultural tradition, I do believe that bullfighting is a barbaric and horrific sport, in short an abomination.
It should not even be called a sport, since bulls are forced to endure unnecessary stress and suffering both in and out of the ring. For instance, in the majority of cases the matador fails to make a “clean” kill and has to stab the bull repeatedly.
This inflicts great pain and anguish on a sentient creature of intelligence.
The most shocking thing is that the EU spends nearly £40m a year of taxpayers’ money directly subsidising gruesome bullfighting and bull fiestas.
And that, to me, is the greatest crime of all.
