I AGREE with the comments made by Pete Winstanely (HAS, Apr 27) about reclaiming the flag of St George from racists.

However, how many readers failed to pick up on the more subtle points made by Michael Stewart (HAS, Apr 24)?

Mr Stewart claims a global conspiracy exists to destroy cultural and national identities, yet refers to the thriving Irish, Scottish and Welsh national identities.

The march to which he also refers was organised by the English Defence League.

Not only does Mr Stewart openly support the marchers, but condemns those opposing it, whom he describes as “antifascists”.

Such was his eagerness to score political points that without realising it, his illconceived argument not only disproves his claim of a global conspiracy, but by his own volition inadvertently admits that the EDL are a fascist group.
