MY fixed tariff for gas and electricity with British Gas was due to end so the company emailed me with another fixed tariff until 2015.
I accepted this thinking it would be in my best interest.
Then, about a month later, I received an email informing me that there was a tariff which would save me £99.
On looking into this offer I discovered that in order to move to I would have to pay £50 per energy supply to transfer.
Funnily enough British Gas does not mention this on its TV adverts.
I can understand the charge if I was leaving the company but, as a loyal customer, one would imagine British Gas should make sure it is easy to transfer to the best tariff automatically.
Now it seems I am stuck on the most expensive tariff until 2015.
