A GROWING number of parents want cycle training to be part of the national curriculum in schools, according to a new study.
Research by Halfords suggested that four out of five parents believe cycle safety should be taught in schools, up from 56 per cent in a survey last year.
Most of the 2,000 adults surveyed said training was essential for children before they ride on roads.
Almost two-thirds of parents said they would support more money being spent on teaching children cycle safety even if it was at the expense of other services.
One in eight of those with children under the age of 12 said they had at least one family member who cannot ride a bike.
