PUPILS from a North-East academy have been given the opportunity to learn more about the world of work.

Teesside Park and MFC Foundation worked together to provide key stage three students the opportunity to participate in real-life business and enterprise activities in the retail sector.

Teesside Park invited 20 students from Thornaby Academy to learn more about the park and its stores, and the different challenges the outlets face on a daily basis to maximise efficiency and quality.

The children began the day at Hollywood Bowl and Nandos, before visiting Teesside Park Management Centre to take part in a number of resilience challenges, requiring them to overcome difficult logistical problems and fixing them together as a team.

To round off the day, they visited Currys PC World to learn more about new technology.

Matt Kirk, enterprise lead officer at MFC Foundation said: "Raise Your Game has been running for three years now, and in that time I have seen pupils from a number of different schools around Teesside gain valuable experience and knowledge within the retail and service sectors.

“The programme not only gives them behind-the-scenes access, but it also helps them increase their confidence."
