THOUSANDS of people are set to get on their bikes in Middlesbrough this weekend for a cycling event for all ages and abilities.
Sky Ride Middlesbrough, organised by Sky, British Cycling and Middlesbrough Council, is a free mass participation cycling event and is taking place on Sunday.
It is the second year Middlesbrough has hosted a Sky Ride and this year the free event will be based at the new Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit at Prissick Sports Base, off Marton Road.
Cyclists will be able to ride a 7km traffic-free route taking in local places of interest such as Stewart Park, Newham Grange Country Farm and Nature's World.
There will also be a wide range of bike-related entertainment and fun for all ages.
Other attractions include organised children races as part of British Cycling's Go Ride Racing, the 1km circuit will be available for visitors to ride, BMX stunt riders from Team Extreme will be attending as will the TFM roadshow, with DJ Wayne Allen.
There will be bike maintenance support, secure cycle parking a cycling market place and skills try-out area.
Sky Ride Middlesbrough runs from 10am to 4pm, and cyclists are encouraged to take a picnic.
