TWO of the region’s charities which care for sick children have joined forces to comfort those affected by baby and child loss.

Leo’s and Zoe’s Place will be holding a special remembrance service tomorrow for families across Teesside who have experienced the loss of one or more of their children.

The 6pm service, taking place as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week at Zoe’s Place in Normanby, is open to anyone who feels they would like to remember a baby.

There will be songs by leading local choir Local Vocals, candle lighting and refreshments available for all those attending.

Lottie King, Founder of Leo’s, which works to raise awareness of premature babies, said: “Losing your child impacts so many of us across the region, whether it’s miscarriage, still birth, neonatal or child loss.

“With both charities offering bereavement support, we really wanted to work together to provide a safe space for families, regardless of how they lost their child, to comfort each other during Baby Loss Awareness Week.”

Ashleigh Rickards, Deputy Head of Care Zoe’s Place, added: “We work with a lot of families during end of life care, so we see first-hand the devastation losing a child can cause.

"We work closely with Leo’s for a lot of our care now and offering an event like this felt incredibly important and something we both very much wanted to do.”
