SLEEPING Beauty will be taking to the stage as this year's pantomime at Middlesbrough Theatre.

The Christmas favourite is starring Anne Hegerty, pictured below, from ITV’s The Chase, as the wicked Fairy Carabosse and Philip Green, of Britain's Got Talent fame, as Muddles the Jester.

The show, devised and directed by David Vickers and Richard Chandler, will run from Friday, December 6 until Sunday, January 5.

The famed tale tells the story of a princess who sleeps for a lifetime in her forgotten palace following an evil curse that has put her under a spell.

True love's kiss is the only thing that can awaken her - but will evil triumph in what promises to be another magical family adventure at the Teesside theatre.

Expect dazzling costumes, spellbinding special effects and lots of audience participation in the show which is always a popular draw for families.

There will be a special dementia-friendly performance to enable people and their carers to attend the theatre in a safe and comfortable environment will be taking place on Thursday, January 2 at 2pm.
