THORNABY PAVILION JUDO CLUB have been celebrating a triple success after three of their judokas claimed medals at the Kent International Judo Championships.

Despite only being 12 years old, Sadie Hope, the youngest member of the Stockton-based squad, won a bronze medal in the Under-16s section of the competition.

Eve Jackson, who is 16, claimed a bronze medal in the Under-21s and a silver in the senior women’s event, while 19-year-old Liam Doody won a bronze in the Under-21s men’s category and also coached his fellow squad members as they competed against rivals from across the country.

“It was great for the squad to win four medals at such a prestigious event, with over 700 judokas,” said Thornaby Pavilion head coach Joe Glynn, who is still going strong at the age of 86. “It shows all our youngsters if you keep giving 100 per cent, you will get the results you deserve.”

Teenagers Joseph Jackson, Aiden Hope and Olivia Hope also competed at the event.
