CAMPAIGNERS have offered their thanks to a leading anti-Brexit figure who spoke at a recent meeting of North-East entrepreneurs and residents.
Labour peer and former cabinet minister Lord Andrew Adonis was a guest speaker at the launch event of the Tees4Europe group held in Stockton on Friday.
The 'Brexit and How to Stop It' event saw Lord Adonis joined by Stockton South MP Dr Paul Williams to discuss the impact of Brexit.
Event organiser Scott Hunter said: “We were in the process of arranging a launch event for campaign when we heard that Andrew was going to be in the area on Friday.
“We quickly got in touch with him and were over the moon when he accepted our invitation. He has done so much to promote the cause of remaining in the EU.
“We knew we needed Paul Williams – as a local MP who has had the courage to stand up for what he believes in – that Brexit will be extremely damaging to Teesside.”
