PARENTS and carers across the borough of Stockton have just one week left to apply for this year’s intake of primary school places.
If your child was born between September 1, 2014, and August 31, 2015, he or she will start primary school this September.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday, January 15, with any late applications only considered after those made on time have been processed.
People are able to select up to three school preferences, and there is no automatic transfer from nursery to primary school.
Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This is a reminder to all parents and carers to meet the deadline so you don’t run the risk of missing out on your preferred school.
“It is vital that your child has the best start in education so please take the time to fill out an application correctly if you have not yet done so.”
An email confirmation will be sent to parents and carers in April to inform them which school has been offered to their child. Those who completed a paper application will receive a letter.
