A GOOD Samaritan who assisted an injured man believed to have been hit by a car is being urged to contact police to help piece together what happened.

A 54-year-old man was discovered lying in the road with head and foot injures between 8pm and 8.30pm on December 8.

A member of the public helped the man before he was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, where he had surgery on his foot to insert metal plates and stitches on a head injury.

The injured man was found at the junction of Levick Crescent and Acklam Road, close to St Francis Church, Middlesbrough.

Witnesses are asked to contact PC Lee Benson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit via non-emergency number 101, quoting event 226810.
