The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) offers the opportunity for recruits to earn while they learn, gaining a degree in policing alongside their core training as employed police officers.

Ten new police officers will be recruited in the first intake, with a further ten in 2020.

The scheme will be a mixture of practical training and classroom study. From 2020 the entry requirements to policing will change and all officers will be required to have a degree level qualification upon entry or through an apprenticeship.
