PEOPLE are being reminded to apply for their child’s secondary school place across Stockton Borough.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, October 31, with any late applications only considered after those made on time have been processed.

If your child was born between September 1, 2007, and August 31, 2008, they are due to start secondary school in September 2019.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for children and young People, said: “The transition from primary to secondary school can be a worrying time, and late applications run the risk of your child missing out on a place at one of your preferred schools.

“We recommend you to research each schools website, prospectus and performance, as well as taking a look at our school transport policy.

“We receive thousands of applications each year and with the tight admission window I would urge people to complete the form as soon as possible.”

A letter will be sent to those who submitted a paper application form on or around March 1, 2019, informing them of the school they have been offered for their child. Those who applied online and chose the option to receive an email will be informed by email only on March 1, 2019.

The easiest way to submit an application is via the online form at www.stockton.gov.uk/schooladmissions
