Hartlepool Ladies Choir have been hitting the high notes now for eight years and are going from strength to strength with an increasing membership and the 2011 diary filling up nicely.

Many of you will be aware of the highly regarded Hartlepool Male Voice Choir, and it was the wives of some of the members of that choir who were responsible for the formation of the Ladies Choir back in 2002, under the direction of John Holmes.

Because of increasing health problems John had to retire from his position, and in 2006 the task of Musical Director was taken over by David Gibson who also directs the Male Voice Choir.

Members of the Ladies Choir are very happy to have recently been awarded a generous cheque by the Tees Valley Community Foundation to assist in the development of the group and to cover the cost of setting up a web page.

The Choir has built up a large repertoire of songs mainly from the musical theatre and along with certain other American arrangements are able to provide a good variety of numbers when they perform in concert in and around Hartlepool and District.

The Choir has the good fortune to have a very central rehearsal room in the Resource Centre at Grange Road Methodist Church where they meet every other Thursday and anyone who would care to join or make a booking can ring the Secretary on 01429 277612.
