A CHILDREN'S charity received a financial boost when five men took part in a hairy experience.

The men, who work for the Fabrick Housing Group, agreed to have their legs waxed to raise vital funds for the Bubble Foundation, a Newcastle-based unit that works to save the lives of babies born without immune systems.

Members of staff from throughout the group, which is made up of parent company Fabrick and partner companies Erimus Housing and Tees Valley Housing, have been donating generously and some paid an entry fee for the pleasure of watching the men have their legs waxed.

Chris Smith, managing director of Erimus Housing, recently visited the Bubble Foundation, which is based at the Great North Children's Hospital, part of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

She said: "I felt privileged to be able to look around the unit, which has such a positive atmosphere and first class facilities, but continually needs vital funds for not just the care of these babies and children, but also research into their conditions."

The five victims were Geoff Prior, head of asset management, Stewart Tagg, head of housing, Brian Trodden, area housing manager, Peter Taylor, health and safety advisor and Rob Thompson, rent and income manager.
