THE sentencing of a woman with mental health issues for assaults on prison staff has been adjourned for preparation of a probation report.

Hannah Watson, 24, of Marske, admitted three counts of assaulting an emergency worker at Durham Crown Court, in May, relating to staff at Low Newton Prison in the city, late last year.

All took place after her admission on a 20-week prison sentence for assaulting a police officer, breaching a suspended sentence for previous assaults on nurses and police.

Appearing via video link from New Hall Prison, in Wakefield, where she was transferred following the Low Newton assaults, sentence was adjourned until July 23 for a Probation Service report to address concerns over where she will live and what form of treatment will be available in the community upon her release.
